Sunnyvale is typical of many of the stops along the Caltrain rail route.
Downtown or other centers of activity are usually just a few steps away
from the station. Right within walking distance there is an abundance of
interesting restaurants. Even the station, as small as it is, has a
coffee shop / snack bar!
The station appears to be unstaffed except during the peak hours in
the morning. Only a few of the Caltrain stations are staffed, and even at
that, they are only staffed during the height of the commute time. When
a Caltrain Ticket Office is not open, you just board the train and purchase
your ticket from the Conductor. If you board the train without a ticket at
a station that is staffed, the penalty is around $1.
Some of the pictures below show the inside and outside of the restaurant:
"Great VegiLand Vegetarian Restaurant." We did not walk to the restaurant
from the train station. I have been told it is only about a ten minute walk
from a Caltrain Station, but I did not verify this myself. The address of
the "Great VegiLand Vegetarian Restaurant" is 562 South Murphy Avenue,
Sunnyvale, CA 94086, phone 408-735-8040. It is open 7 days a week, Monday
through Friday 11 AM to 3 PM and 5 PM to 9:30 PM and on weekends from
11:30 AM to 9:30 PM. I'm not a vegetarian, but I like vegetarian dishes
if they are well prepared. This restaurant has the best vegetarian
Chinese food of any restaurant that I have tried! I always try to eat here
at least once when I am in the area.
