A great guide to public transit in California with a great deal of coverage for Amtrak and local commuter rail as well as connecting bus systems.

This is a very comprehensive reference guide to public transportation in California. I can't say I have "read" the book as it isn't the type of book that one reads from cover to cover, but it does contain a wealth of reference material on how to get around in California by train. It also gives a lot of information of how to get anywhere once you arrive at your train station, which is always a concern when traveling by Amtrak.

Here is the information about the book from the back cover:

Discover the carefree way to tour California!

Kirk Schneider's exciting new guide charts out a better way to get around the Golden State.

  • Features hundreds of destinations accessible by train, bus, and ferry.
  • Directions from airports, train and bus stations to downtown and many points of interest to all major California cities and towns.
  • 16 pages of color maps and detailed local transit information.
