Amtrak Coast Starlight
Successful & Unsuccessful
Attempts To Travel The Detour!
http://www.trainweb.com/travelogues/stevegrande/2003d15b.html

TrainWeb made three attempts to travel on the Amtrak Coast Starlight over the Feather River detour. When you consider that travel in each direction (north and south) is another chance to travel over the detour, we had six chances at it. Five of those chances didn't work out, but one did!

Travelogues were written and photos taken on all three round trips.
Click on each link below for each travelogue:
03/21/03-03/24/03: Chris Guenzler (Detour on Southbound!)
04/05/03-04/07/03: Matt Melzer (No Detour)
04/15/03-04/18/03: Steve Grande & Ray Burns (No Detour)

Chris Guenzler traveled the detour on the southbound Amtrak Coast Starlight

No detour for Matt Melzer, but travelogue and photos are provided
as well as information from the RailPAC meeting in Oakland, California

No detour for Ray Burns & Steve Grande, but they did get a chance to ride on board the
Scottish Thistle private railcar at the rear of the northbound Amtrak Coast Starlight
