WHERE:Solana Beach Amtrak Station.

COST: None - Public Invited!

HOW TO GET THERE:

From the north, you can take Amtrak San Diegan Train #774 that leaves Los Angeles at 10:15 AM and arrives at the Solana Beach Amtrak Station at 12:28 PM (This train comes all the way down from Santa Barbara. Thus, you can get to the meeting by train even from north of Los Angeles.) If the train is late, someone from the club will be waiting at the station to meet the people getting off the train. From the south, you can take Amtrak San Diegan Train #557 that leaves San Diego at 10:25 AM and arrives into Solana Beach at 10:59 AM, or you can take the Coaster #625 that leaves San Diego at 10:45 AM and arrives in Solana Beach at 11:18 AM. Both trains are a bit early for the meeting, but there will be some people coming from San Diego on that Coaster that will arrive in Solana Beach at that time. Hello to all!

Well the January meeting weather was a bit wet, so we ended up rearranging
the furniture in the Irvine station to have our meeting (yes, ...we got
permission!!) It actually made things quite nice. We may even be
establishing a January 'norm', since this was the 3rd year in a row to meet
at Irvine in January, of course the club is just 3 years old too!!

Now it is February and since some people have been talking about the fact
that we don't get south too much, we are going to meet at the Solana Beach
station. We will meet at the arrival of the southbound train that is due to
arrive around 12:30PM. Solana Beach is a nice area and has lots of places
to go close to the station. Of course we are predicting clear sky's and no
rain for the day!!

For our March meeting it looks like we will repeat the excursion to Santa
Barbara. So again we will have a meeting on board the San Diegan. The
un-official start will be in San Diego at oh-dark-hundred, or 6AM. We will
go up to LA, and then on to Santa Barbara. Have lunch there and return on
the same consist to go back. It will be a lllooonnnggg meeting so to speak.
However everyone had such a good time last trip that we can't pass up the
opportunity to do it again.

As of press time there is no information to report on the Observation Car
issue that was asked about at the last meeting. Also no information on Jack
attending either the February or March meeting.
