Car workers place their identification tag in this box to indicate that
they are working on a particular train on a particular siding in the yard.
The train is not allowed to be moved until it is clear of anyone working
on the train, that is, until everyone has left the train and removed their
tag from the box.
The photos in this slide show were taken in the mid-1990's
by Steve Grande on his Amtrak travels throughout the nation.
The size of the photos is purposely smaller as disk space
was expensive and download speeds were slower at that time.
