This is the welding equipment used in the Car Shops. Most of the time the welding equipment has to be brought over to the cars in the yard and the repair performed outdoors right where the train is parked. Train cars are usually only brought inside for more major repairs.
The photos in this slide show were taken in the mid-1990's by Steve Grande on his Amtrak travels throughout the nation. The size of the photos is purposely smaller as disk space was expensive and download speeds were slower at that time.
