You can hang up two coats here. If you don't have coats to hang up, then you have a bit more space in your room. This is a Superliner II Sleeping Car. The Superliner I Standard Bedrooms had a closet here and you didn't get any extra space by not having a coat to hang up. You can also see the curtain that you pull across the doorway for privacy.
The photos in this slide show were taken in the mid-1990's by Steve Grande on his Amtrak travels throughout the nation. The size of the photos is purposely smaller as disk space was expensive and download speeds were slower at that time.
