This is a photo of the Pacific Parlor Car from another trip I took on the Coast Starlight. This car is positioned between the Sleeping Cars and the Dining Car. This car is only open to Sleeping Car Passengers. Coffee, juice, soda and light snacks are served free in this car. Wine, beer and mixed drinks can be purchased. You can eat or drink in this car or bring the items back to your room. Table service is also provided. You can just sit at a table and the Parlor Car Attendant will serve you. On this particular train, the Pacific Parlor Car had been replaced by an extra Dining Car. I'm not sure which car I like better. Each has its good points and bad points. However, I think it would be a great idea to add a car with lots of tables to every Amtrak train. You can flip between this photo and the previous to get an idea of the difference between the normal Pacific Parlor Car and the extra Dining Car.

The photos in this slide show were taken in the mid-1990's by Steve Grande on his Amtrak travels throughout the nation. The size of the photos is purposely smaller as disk space was expensive and download speeds were slower at that time.
