TrainWeb.com Is Moving!
http://www.trainweb.com/news/2005/2005e26a.html

For almost 9 years, TrainWeb.com has occupied the space above the Amtrak ticket office in the Fullerton Santa Fe Depot at 124 East Santa Fe Avenue in Fullerton, California. TrainWeb moved into that space September 1, 1996 and will be moving out at the end of May 2005. But, we won't be going very far. TrainWeb will be moving just a few blocks down the street to 400 East Commonwealth Avenue, Unit #7, Fullerton, California 92832. Once we move, our old phone number of 714-773-9393 will be disconnected without a forwarding message. Our new phone number will be 714-209-7223.

The Fullerton webcams will probably be down for several days after our move. We have made some preliminary arrangements to continue to have live webcams at the Fullerton Depot, but we will not have time to set these up until sometime in early June. Our move will have NO effect on the TrainWeb.com website, nor on any of the other websites hosted on our webservers, including all of the TrainWeb.org websites. We moved all of the web hosting out of our Fullerton office many months ago in order to obtain better bandwidth, security, and simpler server administration. Thus, except for the webcams and our phone number, all of TrainWeb will continue to function as normal with NO downtime throughout this move!

There are many reasons for this move, but the main reason is the success of TrainWeb's new venture into train theme party supplies. For many years, visitors to TrainWeb.com had been contacting us to find out if we knew where to obtain party supplies for birthday parties with a train theme. We didn't know of any such places and could only direct these callers to local party stores or to search the internet. Eventually, we were getting so many of these calls that it became obvious that there was a need for a dedicated supplier of train theme party supplies. Thus, we came up with TrainParty.com.

Over the past few months, we have been getting so many on-line and phone orders for train theme party supplies that our small office over the train station has become stuffed with party supplies wall-to-wall! Our inventory has even spilled over into our homes and a separately rented storage unit. Our current location was just not big enough to handle the size of our inventory. Our upstairs location and small office space was also inappropriate for walk-in traffic.

Thus, we are moving to a new location that will have a storefront for walk-in traffic as well as plenty of space for our work offices and our inventory. We did not want to move far from Downtown Fullerton, a major transportation hub and center of activity in Orange County, and the future home of the Southern California Railroad Museum. So, we moved just a few blocks down the street to the closest place we could find to our current location that would accomodate our needs. Our new office and store location is in a commercial site that is still adjacent to the railroad tracks. We are considering adding another webcam and railroad radio monitor at this new location.

Although we will be moved into our new location by June 1, 2005, we don't expect to have a grand opening of the new TrainParty.com walk-in store until June 15, 2005. We do hope that you will come by and celebrate our grand opening at that time with us! More information about this event will be posted at TrainWeb.com as we get closer to the big event!
