Our Instructor, Mike Wikman, has 45 years of railroad operating experience. He has the expertise to provide the following services:
  • Classroom and on the job instruction for Enginemen, Brakemen, Conductors and Supervisors for training into railroad operating positions.
  • Laptop computer basic railroad, air brake, simulator training for Locomotive Engineers and Train Dispatchers.

  • Mechanical locomotive car and locomotive inspections.
  • Riding special locomotive and car movements.

  • Make evaluations of your Enginemen in a more fair way, not knowing them previously.
  • Fill in for your sick, retired, and resigned engineers. Mike is certified on a Class One railroad and has operated SD70MAC and -944CW locomotives with 160 cars. Started out on commuter passenger trains.
  • Remote control train operation.
  • Automatic Train Control, cab signals, with or without speed control.

  • Operating rules, general code, timetable special, air brake and train handling instructions, and safety books. Your books or let us make one for your railroad. Remember, each rule you have that you don't need, can be used against you.
  • Physical characteristics of your railroad. We make maps and can video tape it.
  • Photography: Mike uses a Nikon N8008S with different lenses and a Sony Super 8 Videocamera. He can make what you need: calendars, hand outs, advertisements, and maps of the road for training and legal use.
  • Any railroad technical books that have been printed, he can get. Try him!


Work Experience

  • Three years as a Locomotive Electrician and Locomotive Engineer in Korea and as a Locomotive Instructor at Ft. Eustis, Virginia with the U.S. Army.
  • A Locomotive Fireman-Engineer on the Delaware Lackawanna and Western and Road Foreman of Engines on the Erie Lackawanna Railway.
  • General Road Foreman of Engines on the Central Railroad of New Jersey.
  • Asst. Director of Inspection and Review for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority City of New York.
  • The Missouri Pacific Railroad in Texas as a Road Foreman of Engines.
  • Amtrak as Supervisor of Locomotive Operating Procedures and Senior Locomotive Engineer Instructor to Transportation Manager in San Antonio, Texas.
  • Chief Mechanical Officer for the North American Carriage Corp. running a passenger train from San Antonio to Monterey Mexico.
