PRIVATE RAILCAR TO HOST POET
Fullerton Observer
June 2, 2004

Trainweb.com, located at the Fullerton Amtrak station on Santa Fe along with Bill and Debbie Hatrick, owners of the Overland Trail private rail car, are sponsoring the journey of surrealist poet sotere Torregian from Stockton to San Diego on June 12. The Overland Trail will be attached to the southbound Amtrak Surfliner stopping in Fullerton at 8.15am on that day.

Ray Burns, of TrainWeb, has been a fan of Torregian since reading his book "Amtrak Trek," about his transcontinental ride from Menlo Park, California to New York City, several years ago. Torregian is currently writing a book, "The Overland Trail." while on this journey.

Sotere Torregian has previously published 14 books of poetry. Most of his work comes from his personal experience. The self-described coward of airlines said he was forced to the train to New York City, where he was to give a poetry reading, because of his fear of flying. Traveling by rail also gave him a chance to see the country and write.
